In His Own Words

Every prediction on the economy. He got right.

Not a slogan. A pattern. Pulled directly from the floor of Parliament, the budget debates, and the press. His own words, on the public record.

"For years we ran the economy as if money was free. We didn't cut our coat to size."
2024 · Budget debate, Parliament of Ghana
"Bawumia is like Maguire, scoring own goals against his own team."
2022 · Budget debate · The clip that went global
"If you talk too much and brag, the economy will deal with you."
2023 · On the Vice-President's silence
"Piccadilly armed robbers have hijacked Ghana's financial sector."
2018 · On the banking-sector collapse
"Don't mind the Finance Minister. Go ahead and buy your dollars."
2024 · Forex advice that turned out to be right
"NPP should be on an apology tour, not a thank-you tour."
2024 · After the economy collapsed
2017 to 2024 · The Watchdog Years

One man. One microphone. The whole opposition's economic case.

For eight straight years, Hon. Isaac Adongo stood on the floor of Ghana's Parliament and held the NPP government to account, almost single-handedly, week after week, budget after budget. While the country slept, he read the numbers. While ministers boasted, he asked the questions. By the time the cedi collapsed, the banks failed, the debt was restructured, and the IMF was called back in, every prediction he had made on the economy was already on the public record. And every one of them came true.

2018 · He warned the banking cleanup would cost billions.
When the government collapsed UT Bank, Capital Bank, and others, he stood up and called it what it was: "Piccadilly armed robbers have hijacked the financial sector." The cleanup eventually cost Ghana over GH₵25 billion.
2019 to 2021 · He warned the debt was unsustainable.
Year after year, budget after budget, he warned that Ghana was borrowing faster than it was producing. "We ran the economy as if money was free." In July 2021 the IMF said the same thing. By 2022 the country was in crisis.
2022 to 2024 · He warned the cedi would not hold.
When the Finance Minister projected appreciation, Adongo told ordinary traders: "Don't mind him. Go and buy your dollars." The minister called it speculation. The market proved him right.
and the country listened, eventually

"For years we ran the economy as if money was free. I said it then. I will keep saying it now. Discipline is not a slogan. It is the only road home."

From Watchdog to Steward

The country now puts him in the room.

For eight years he asked the questions from the back row. Today he sits at the head of the table. He chairs the committee that holds the country's purse, and he sits on the board of the bank that prints the country's money.

01 · VINDICATED
The IMF eventually said what he had been saying.
In July 2021 the IMF echoed his debt warnings. In November 2022 the Bank of Ghana issued a formal response to one of his speeches. How many backbenchers in Africa make a central bank reply?
02 · TRUSTED
Three elections. Three mandates. One constituency.
Bolgatanga Central returned him in 2016, 2020, and 2024. In 2020, even as the NDC lost the presidency, his vote share grew to 64.45%. That is grassroots trust money cannot buy.
03 · IN THE ROOM
Chairperson, Finance Committee. Director, Bank of Ghana.
President Mahama appointed him to the Bank of Ghana Board in February 2025. Parliament elected him Chairperson of the Finance Committee. The watchman moved to the head of the table.
Discipline. Service. Delivery.

Loyal to the grassroots. Confident in the reset.

I truly sympathize with our NDC grassroots. However, I am confident that the work undertaken by President Mahama so far will create meaningful job opportunities to support them.

Hon. Isaac Adongo · Radio Tamale 91.7 · 10 Years Anniversary broadcast · 27 March 2026

He doesn't pretend the road is easy. He doesn't promise miracles. He tells the grassroots the truth, and stakes his credibility on the work that's already underway.

Development Delivered

You don't have to take our word. Drive through Bolga.

From classroom blocks in Dulugu to boreholes in Sherigu. From the redeveloped market in central Bolga to youth skills centres training a new generation. From 1,200 dual desks delivered to nine schools to a GH₵20,000 surgery for a young man whose family had run out of options.

His projects are not photo opportunities. They are infrastructure you can touch, and futures you can measure.
